The Inn at Montchanin Welcomes
Joanne, Lutz Horticulturist

The Inn at Montchanin Village is delighted to announce the appointment of Joanne Lutz as the Property's chief horticulturist.

"I just love that they have different little villas with their own landscaping," says Lutz, explaining the appeal of her new position. "I'm looking forward to bringing outstanding color and bloom to the property, especially with perennial displays.

Indoors, visitors will e treated to the fresh-cut lily arrangements the Inn is known for. "lilies have log vase life and are a tradition here," Lutz says. "We plan to keep that up, but will also experiment with different color lilies, adding a little element of surprise." In addition, exuberant orchid displays will showcase those exotic flowers. "One of our four greenhouses is completely dedicated to orchids," explains Lutz.

Lutz comes to Montchanin from the Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens in Washington, DC, where she was the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) coordinator. She also has experience in the garden center industry, the nursery business, as owner of an IPM consulting business, and in floral design. Her horticulture degree is from Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, PA.

Lutz's design skill and creativity will enhance the property's already stunning floral fireworks and dramatic seasonal installations. Her team includes three other full-time gardeners and one part-time employee. "I'm looking to take all my skills - supervisory, greenhouse, plant production, hands-on installation, and IMP - to grow healthy plants and create beautiful, memorable displays."
